Welcome to our first Thursday night Craft Tip!

My first tip for anyone that enjoys being creative is to keep it simple. Some of the best crafts come from items you have laying around the house. Keeping the cost down will allow you to enjoy the end result that much more.

Our first project is this adorable snowman and he is perfect for any tree. It honestly took me longer to gather all the supplies than it did to make it. From start to finish this bundle of snow was hanging on our family Christmas Tree within 30 minutes.

Don’t be afraid to think outside the box!

If you don’t have wooden circles improvise. You could use card board or even an empty roll of ribbon, just cut out the circles and paint. Sometimes I go to far out of the box and make my husband wonder if I have lost my mind. Tonight I thought the felt hat needed a bit more….I rummaged the closet and couldn’t find what I wanted. As I was turning down the hall I noticed the rubber plant sitting on my desk and knew the leaves were exactly what the project needed. When I took the scissors to the plant my husband said “I am not even going to ask!” Then I know he got worried when I pulled out an old shirt from my drawer and cut off a small black button. It does look cuter on Frosty then in my drawer though and as far as the plant…well, no one but my husband and all my readers will ever know.

Supplies:

  1. Red Felt
  2. 2 wooden circles
  3. Paint- white, red, black and tan
  4. Hot Glue Gun
  5. Thin Rope ** can also use ribbon or yarn
  6. Button/leaves if desired

This ornament won’t likely be found in Rockefeller Square this year but will make an adorable memory to hang on your tree for years to come. It is a simple craft that your little ones can help you make.
